Front and back cover art work is still in good condition. Cover edges, corners have heavy wear. Part of spine is missing at both top and bottom. Hinges are good; binding is good with four loose plates. Over 30 color and black & white drawings of women as different types of flowers with poems.
Dedication: "To Sweethearts One and All This Book is Dedicated -- But More Particularly to One". Many post cards were published by the Rotograph Company in 1907, of drawings in this book and have a current price of $10-30 each. The book JAP HERRON was published in the fall of 1917 by renown book dealer Mitchell Kennerley and contained a frontispiece portrait of Mark Twain drawn by artist John Cecil Clay. On September 9, 1917 The New York Times published a less than flattering review of the work. Shortly thereafter, Twain's surviving daughter Clara Clemens and Harper and Brothers publishers, who for seventeen years had owned the sole rights to Mark Twain's works, went to court to halt the publication.
