On October 6, 1930, several men met in the Sedgefield Club in Greensboro, North Carolina and decided that there was a need for a permanent association for the promotion of golf and good fellowship. That same month, October, 1930, the first Seniors Golf Turnament was held at Sedgefield with thirty-five contestants.
